Do You Need Business Cards?

Yes, unless

You know for certain that everyone you meet, and wish to stay in contact with, has the latest technology for exchanging information digitally, and knows how to utilize it. If a person asks you to get a business card and you need to answer, “I don’t have one”, they can find the impression that you simply walked out of the office without them by error. If your card has to incorporate a fancy, expensive touch (such as a custom made die-cut, embossing or foil-stamping), see if you can print “cubes” with areas left blank, so the shells can be placed back on the press and overprinted with this new information in smaller batches when the time comes. Printing fewer also provides you more flexibility to try including different or more information in your card. For instance, you could try including a QR code into your own card, print 50-100, and determine how folks respond.

Have over 1 card. Who says you can not have two (or more) different variations of your cards? Try a variant with more contact info, or different kinds of contact info. Maybe a version that emphasizes one of your company’s capabilities over the rest.

Consider an un-card. I have seen fortune cookies, army “dog tags”, oversized film tickets, wooden clothespins, playing cards, guitar picks and drink coasters utilized as the foundation for outstanding business cards.
